Dr. Andreas Hanewinkel has extensive experience in intellectual property matters, especially in trademark issues and cases with a strong technical background. Prior to joining our firm in 2012, Andreas Hanewinkel worked several years in renowned patent and law firms.

The focus of his work lies in trademark and competition law. Andreas Hanewinkel advises on the development of intellectual property strategies and manages national and international trademark applications. He regularly represents clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market and the World Intellectual Property Organization. He also represents in trademark and competition law disputes before German courts and advises on copyright and product safety issues.

Andreas Hanewinkel studied law in Münster and completed a postgraduate course „Intellectual Property Law“. During his professional educational training Andreas Hanewinkel worked in law offices in Münster and San Francisco. While preparing his doctoral thesis on a procedural law matter (PhD 2003), he was employed as a scientific assistant of Prof. Dr. Pieroth at the University of Münster.
